The ScotlandIS Digital Technology Awards showcases excellence within the industry and has been designed to reward innovation, expertise and ambition of businesses of all sizes throughout Scotland. Exmos was lucky enough to be shortlisted for an award on the evening, but we were pipped to the post by Aggreko for the Transformational Innovation Through Data award. We’d like to congratulate Aggreko for their win, and also congratulate our co-runners up Mallzee for their shortlisting. (We’re coming for you both next year though! Watch this space!)
The awards are a purposefully fun and laid back evening, this year featuring hundreds of emoji masks, a selfie mirror, giant Connect-Four, Pic ‘n Mix and our fantastic host David Farrell keeping us entertained with the jokes. Our desert even included our very own emoji “sticker”- a great touch by the chefs. We’d like to provide a special mention to the guys at Makemeafilm who have been touring Scotland like maniacs for the past month filming all the shortlisted businesses. We had great fun having video cameras in the office for the first time, and some of the guys were clearly made for the big screen.
A special recognition was made to Skyscanner CEO, Gareth Williams, who was honoured with the “Outstanding Personal Achievement” award. Edinburgh-headquartered Skyscanner was recently purchased by Chinese group Ctrip for £1.4 billion, has a turnover of over £120 million and employs over 850 people. It’s brilliant to see a Scottish business perform at such a high level on the global stage, and Skyscanner is a true motivator for what all tech companies strive to achieve. Congratulations to Gareth and the Skyscanner team for their awards. For a list of all the award winners, click here.
It’s truly incredible to see so many digital tech leaders in the same room. Scotland is a small nation, but together we’ve shown we’re all capable of big things that can challenge on the world stage. From Skyscanner to The Data Lab, to FreeAgent to Mallzee; congratulations to all those nominated on the night and we look forward to getting together again next year!
