The team at Exmos has developed a wide range of database solutions for clients in various industry sectors.

Path Project Tracking System
This application was created for a Scottish based organisation which is involved in the promotion and management of pathways throughout Scotland.

The software allows the organisation to track existing paths as well as other projects such as feasibility studies and path creation projects. Paths are split into Local Authority areas and then further subdivided into various zones.

For each project, the system records the parties involved in the project as well as details of funding and progress.

Direct Marketing System
We took over a system that had been started in-house to produce mail-shots. Data had been sourced from a variety of commercial mailing lists, each of which was in a different format. The system had evolved over time and was essentially several mini mailing systems - one for each format of mailing data that had been purchased.

We designed a single database to hold the company's mailing data and then wrote import procedures to import from each mailing list. The system then produced various reports to allow the client to find and remove/merge duplicate records.

We developed a tagging system which allowed the client to generate their own tags or attributes for each record. They could then extract records based on one or more of these tags. Once the records for a particular mailshot had been selected, they were then output directly to Word, either as a fully formed mailshot letter, or as mailing labels.

Builder's Estimating System

Created in 1992, our remit on this system was to replace an ageing estimating application written in BASIC running under CP/M on a then ten year old original IBM PC.

The system was developed using Microsoft Access 1.1 with the requirement that it operated exactly like the existing BASIC system.
This involved a thorough analysis of the existing application running on equipment and with code for which there was practically no support or experience available.

Our replacement system was retired at the end of 2004, having completed 12 years of sterling service.
