Our combined expertise in database applications and data analysis has been the basis of many sophisticated applications in the manufacturing sector.

Quality Control System for Glass Container Manufacturer

This system is a three-tier database system based on MS SQL Server with data analysis and charting functionality incorporated. The application interfaces with various measurement devices through the serial port, allowing operators to quickly enter dimensional and burst pressure data. On-going monitoring is carried out using embedded control charts, allowing rapid response to any changes in manufacturing conditions.

Bill-of-Materials System

This is a three-tier database system based on MS SQL Server. The application includes the ability to extract component and assembly information from legacy MS Word documents, eliminating the need to re-type large amounts of text. Full BoM control is incorporated including the automatic generation of change sheets from modifications to the BoM items.

Blind Design Systems

These systems were developed for a designer of innovative window blind systems for residential and commercial installations. Features include protection of intellectual property through secure data encryption, embedded software licencing controls and sophisticated print-preview facilities.

Estimating System

Here we took a system written in DataEase which had previously been written using the first version of Excel under Windows 2 and prior to that, ran on a mini computer.
The DataEase version had retained the calculation logic from the Excel spreadsheet, but it now resided as hard coded query scripts within the application itself. Only one person in the company understood this logic and there was no audit on any changes that were made to it.

We took this existing logic (there are some 1,000 lines of it) and placed it in a JET (MS Access) database. We then designed the input forms (the largest of which has around 400 input fields on it) to be compatible with this existing logic and finally wrote a logic processing engine. All changes to the logic are made within the database, with full auditing. The input forms are simplistic in their coding - after having built the first form, we were able to build the subsequent ones each in a few hours rather than days of coding.

Our extensive knowledge of DataEase allowed us to dissect the existing, complex, system - without these skills this project would have been extremely difficult.
